The National Taipei University
of Education (NTUE), known as National Taipei
Teachers College, was renamed to its present title
on August 1, 2005. The National Taipei University of
Education was inaugurated in 1896, 16 years before
the Republic of China was founded. Following the
retrocession of Taiwan from Japan in 1945, the ROC
government renamed the school the Taiwan Provincial
Normal School in December of the year. In 1961, the
school’s name was changed once again to Taiwan
Provincial Junior Teachers College, and then, the
school was upgraded to Taiwan Provincial Taipei
Normal College in 1987. In 1991 it was renamed to
the National Taipei Teachers College. |
